Jobber Plus Press Controls

The Jobber Plus press controls is a complete machine that has the same ability as the Brake Master built in. This press controls system provides the same functions as the Brake Master but includes much more.

The Jobber Plus is a partial revolution punch press controls which also acts as an interface between light curtains. In turn, light curtains are designed to guard personnel working with machine controls and around moving machinery. When the machine controls operator’s safety is dependent on the machine’s ability to stop quickly, it is imperative that a safe stopping time of the device shall be known. The light curtains should be set for the proper distance from the nearest pinch point as regulated in the United States by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The Jobber Plus is dependent on the proper operation of the light curtains used to safeguard the operator of the machine controls.

Authorized Access Only

The press controls are provided with keyed selector switches. The purpose is to prevent untrained and unauthorized personnel from changing or modifying the operating modes. It is the purchaser’s and/or employer’s responsibility to ensure that only trained and authorized personnel have access to these functions.

Installation

The Jobber Plus is a revolutionary air clutch or brake part press controls system. It can be installed independently of the motor control panel. The control system comes pre-wired from the factory. Usually, the motor panel is mounted on the side of the press controls opposite the flywheel. This panel contains a disconnect switch, fuses, transformer, terminal wiring strip and the necessary starters to manage the motors on the press controls. Before mounting either of the panels, plan out the best location for the motor starter panel and the Jobber Plus panel. Proper planning will ensure that they are convenient to service and operate. If the Jobber Plus is the vertical mount model with a remote operator station, be sure to mount it, so the operator has easy access to the press controls and the LCD display. When installing be sure to use the vibration mounts supplied with the panel. If the Jobber Plus panel is the pendant mount model, determine where the pendant mount swivel bracket will be placed on the machine. The LCD display should be at eye level for the operator. If there are palm buttons on the sides of the panel take into account their location in relation to the operator’s ease of use. A diagnostic screen can be accessed to allow visual indication of an input changing state. If an input is ‘ON’ a ‘1’ will be displayed. If it is ‘OFF’ a ‘0’ will be displayed. By pressing buttons, activating switches or cycling the press controls, the status of the inputs can be determined making it easy to find faulty components.

All Systems Meet and/or Exceed OSHA 1910.217, ANSI B11.1, CSA and European Standards.

Control Reliability
Twin microprocessors powered by their own independent power supplies independently perform clutch/brake and input logic while simultaneously monitoring each other. Each processor powers an independent dual air valve relay and monitors the other relay to check opening and closing.

Relays have force-guided contacts. In the event of a relay failure, the press controls would be shut down instantly and the LCD will display “RELAY FAULT”. Relays are field replaceable.

If either processor fails, the press controls will issue a stop signal and prevent further strokes of the press until the fault is corrected. The fault will be displayed in plain English on the LCD.

All vital functions are stored in nonvolatile FLASH and battery-backed memory for maximum redundancy and reliability.
